Method |
|
- The crack shall be blown out with compressed air and all foreign and loose material removed from the crack.
- Weedkiller should be used and allowed to dry.
- Twenty four hours after the application of the weedkiller, the sides should be primed with MSP/1 Prime or local equivalent.
- Cracks shall be filled by means of a pressure type spray can or other approved equipment.
- The bitumen rubber must penetrate the crack and not just cover. All excess bitumen rubber on the road surface wider than 50mm either side of the crack and more than 1mm thick should be removed.
- Frequently more than one application is required and therefore a repetition of the sealant is necessary after the initial application settles.

Cleaning |
|
Thorough cleaning of all equipment is recommended immediately after use to avoid blockage of pipes and nozzles. Clean with diesel/paraffin or thinners or commercially prepared cleaning fluids. Skin contact with cold bitumen may be cleaned with commercially available hand cleaners followed by soap and water. |

Hand-applied, used-friendly surfacing, BRP Quick Pave provides a proven specification, bagged, slurry mix. BRP Quick Pave has been manufactured using carefully selected materials and mixing of the slurry in controlled conditions ensures consistent conformance to specifications. BRP Quick Pave is packaged in easy-to-handle 30kg bags, however, different weights are also available to suit customer requirements.
Areas such as road, car parks, pedestrian walkways and driveways can be surfaced with BRP Quick Pave. The convenience of using a pre-packaged material is ideal for applications where space is limited or mechanical application is not possible or impractical. Furthermore, the cost of expensive equipment is eliminated. Current trends dictate the use of products that are both environmentally as well as user-friendly and BRP Quick Pave meets both these requirements being a cold-applied material. |
|
Applications |
|
- New construction or resurfacing of aged asphalt.
- Low traffic roads i.e. housing complexes, residential areas, pedestrian footpaths and walkways.
- Sports complexes – the fine to medium texture is ideally suited for tennis courts, playgrounds and basketball / netball courts and parks.
- Commercial applications include railway stations and platforms, airport terminals and access areas even runways – anywhere a smooth finish is required.
- Car parks for hotels, hospitals, schools and shopping complexes could be considered well-suited as indeed are garage forecourts, however, it would be prudent not to use the product if it were to be saturated in petrol or diesel.

|
Preparation |
|
- The area must be swept free of all dust and loose material.
- Cracks must be thoroughly cleaned and treated with weedkiller followed by an application of BRP Fine Crackseal Strip or some other commercially available cracksealant. (The bitumen rubber contained in BRP Crackseal Strips prevent cracks from reflecting through the slurry. Slurry is not a successful means of sealing cracks!)
- Weedkiller is also recommended as pre-treatment prior to using BRP Quick Pave on newly constructed areas.
- It is worthwhile to note that on a particularly hot day, the surface should be dampened with a little water prior to an application of BRP Quick Pave.
