-
Traffic flows freely around BRP Traffic Circles (roundabouts), causing only minor disruption at peak traffic flow periods (but less disruption than other control options) and no disruption at off-peak periods.
-
BRP Traffic Circles (roundabouts) provide a traffic calming influence at intersections as well as at the approach to intersections, which in turn enhances a moderated driver behaviour in the area.
-
Long vehicles can travel over BRP Traffic Circles (roundabouts) at low speeds. This feature does not restrict access to any class of vehicle.
-
Traffic noise is reduced because the tendency for traffic to stop is all but eliminated other than at peak periods.
BRP Traffic Circles (roundabouts) are custom manufactured to suit a specific intersection. The product is supplied in a kit form that is both simple and quick to install so ensuring the minimum disruption to traffic. The product may be either circular or oval in shape.
BRP Traffic Circles (roundabouts) are manufactured in segments using 19,0mm aggregate choked with 9,5mm aggregate to provide a product that forms an homogenous bond with the existing surface, be it asphalt or concrete. The standard height of a BRP Traffic Circle is approximately 13mm at its outer diameter and at least 52mm at its centre, depending on specific requirements. Traffic Circles (roundabouts) should be painted and relevant warning signs erected to enhance safety. |
